Brett replaced and upgraded locks on two doors after a burglary in which our doors were kicked in, damaging existing locks.
In addition to providing a quote for our insurance claim, and then doing the work later, he reviewed our other doors and made some suggestions for improved security which we agreed with and had Brett do as part of the overall job. He replaced standard entry knob and lock assemblies, upgraded those installations to improve security, upgraded one door to a key-less lock, and added additional safety devices (Door Guards) on two doors. Brett was very responsive and personable, arrived right on time for both the quote visit and the installation, provided a professional and well documented quote, and completed the work as quoted. He also worked in cooperation with another contractor (Wood 'n Things) whom we selected to do the door repair and replacement, so the end result was just as we expected, and all completed in a half day. I purchased Angie's Big Deal coupon to have two interior keypad door locks installed.  Brett from Lockstar installed the two keypad locks.  He also installed a locking mechanism for a sliding glass door and a turn-lock and key for a hurricane screen door.  He changed the exterior locks on my home and he cut all the new keys required, including Master Keys and "Do Not Duplicate" keys. Brett, the owner of Lockstar in Broomfield, is new to the Denver-Boulder area and eager to please new clients. I scheduled the appointment with him and he arrived on time, was friendly and courteous, and installed the keypad locks quickly. I then asked him about some other door and lock issues in our home, and found him very knowledgeable and helpful. He suggested several alternatives for what I wanted to accomplish, including securing an exterior sliding glass door that had been easy to jimmy open and inserting a turn-lock mechanism and key lock on a hurricane screen door. He installed the new locking mechanisms, changed the locks on all the entry doors, and made the necessary keys on the spot, including Master Keys and single-door "Do Not Duplicate" keys for my downstairs tenants -- his idea! It was a novel experience to have such a likeable and knowledgeable serviceman offer creative solutions and efficient follow-through.  I'll use Lockstar services in the future and have been referring friends to him. I called Lockstar to take advantage of "The Big Deal" from this list.  Brett was able to come immediately because he had just finished a job nearby.  Brett rekeyed all of the locks in the house to one key because the former homeowner hadn't given me keys to the back doors or to the garage.  The doorknob to the garage was funky, so I asked Brett to replace it rather than rekey it.  Brett worked quickly and kept his work area very clean.  He also performed a security check on my house and even verified that the existing strike plates had the longer screws.  I appreciate that he took these extra steps and spent time with me answering questions about locksmiths and security.  If I ever get locked out of house or car, this is the guy I'm going to call.  Recommend him very highly.
